The new leakage sensor KNX from MDT
Early warning in case of water ingress
Washing machines and similar household appliances are often integrated into built-in cabinets and are installed in utility rooms or in the basement. Thus, it happens that water damage is discovered at a late stage. To minimize the damage caused by such incidents MDT has developed a new KNX leakage sensor that provides early warning in the event of water ingress.
The installation is easily conducted by placing the MDT leakage sensor KNX (SCN-LSEN1.01) on a level floor close to the potential source of danger. In the event of an incident such as a burst pipe or a leaking water hoses of a washing machine or a dishwasher. the MDT leakage sensor KNX (SCN-LSEN1.01) detects conductive liquids as of 1 mm depth by means of electrolytic AC voltage measurement. As soon as the leakage sensor detects water ingress, an alarm message is sent to the KNX bus. As an example, this alarm can then trigger an e-mail via an IP interface, or the KNX installation can be programmed so that a specific lights in the house blinks in the event of an alarm. The MDT leakage sensor KNX (SCN-LSEN1.01) has additionally a red LED to directly indicate an alarm on the leakage sensor.
The MDT leakage sensor KNX (SCN-LSEN1.01) expands the MDT product range and finds its field of application, for example, in the heating circuit distributor, in heating, washing and basement rooms, as well as in critical areas under terrariums, aquariums or wet cells. The early alarm in case of leakage can help to avoid major damage.
